We believe in one triune God, eternally existing in three personsCFather, Son, and Holy SpiritCeach co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, coequal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; John 14:10, 26; 2 Cor. 13:14)
A. The Person and Work of Christ
1. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men. (Isa. 7:14; 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14; 2 Cor. 5:19-21; Gal. 4:4-5; Phil. 2:5-8)
2. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and, that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. (Acts 2:18-36; Rom. 3:24-25; Eph. 1:7; 1 Pet. 2:24; 1 Peter 1:3-5)
3. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where, as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. (Acts 1:9-10; Rom. 8:34; Heb. 9:24; 7:25; 1 John 2:1-2)
B. The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit.
1. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and, that He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. (John 16:8-11; Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 12:12-14; 2 Cor. 3:6; Eph. 1:13-14)
2. We believe that He is the divine Teacher who assists believers to understand and appropriate the Scriptures and that it is the privilege and duty of all the saved to be filled with the Spirit. (Eph. 1:17-18; 5:18; 1 John 2:20, 27)
3. We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowal of spiritual gifts to every believer. God uniquely uses evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip believers in the assembly in order that they can do the work of the ministry. (Rom. 12:3-8; 1 Cor. 12:4-11, 28; Eph. 4:7-12)
4. We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing, were temporary. Speaking in tongues was never the common or necessary sign of the baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit. Ultimate deliverance of the body from sickness or death awaits the consummation of our salvation in the resurrection, though God frequently chooses to answer the prayers of believers for physical healing. (1 Cor. 1:22; 13:8; 14:21-22)
That the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God and inherent in original writings and are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. (II Tim. 3:16-17).
The Holy Scriptures.
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally and plenarily inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible and God-breathed and, therefore, are the final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament are the complete and divine revelation of God to Man. The Scriptures shall be interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning, and all issues of interpretation and meaning shall be determined by the pastor. The King James Version of the Bible shall be the official and only translation used by the church. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21)
That Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:35) and truly man (I Tim. 2:5).
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God; but that in Adam’s sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. Man is totally depraved and, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition.
(Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 3:22-23; 5:12; 6:23; Eph. 2:1-3; 4:17-19)
That the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures (I Cor. 15:3) as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice and all who believe on Him are justified on the single ground of His shed blood (Romans 3:24-25).
That the Holy Spirit is a Person who reprove the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment (John 16:8-11), who regenerates and baptizes all believers into the Body of Christ which is the Church (I Cor. 12:12-13), and who dwells, enlightens and guides the individual believer (I Cor. 6:19, John 16:13).
That all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God (John 1:12-13, Rom. 8:16), and are the recipients of everlasting life (I Peter 1:3-5).
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord (Acts 2:32), in His ascension into Heaven (Acts 1:9-10), and in his present life there as High Priest and Advocate for the saved.
(Heb. 4:14, I John 2:1-2).
We believe in the pre-millennial rapture of the saved to meet Him in the air (I Thess. 4:13-18) and in the personal, visible, imminent and glorious return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (Acts 1:11, Rev. 19: 11-16). We believe in that blessed hope, the personal, imminent return of Christ, Who will rapture His church prior to the seven-year tribulation period. At the end of the Tribulation, Christ will personally and visibly return with His saints, to establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom which was promised to the nation of Israel.
(Ps. 89:3-4; Dan. 2:31-45; Zech. 14:4-11; 1 Thess. 1:10, 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Rev. 3:10; 19:11-16; 20:1-6)
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust (John 9:28-29, I Cor. 15:24), the everlasting blessedness of the saved (Rom. 6:5), and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost. (Rev. 14:9-12, 21:8).
That old serpent called the Devil and Satan is a real person who deceives the whole world (I Pet. 5:8, Job 1:6-7). We believe that Satan is a person, the author of sin and the cause of the Fall of Man; that he is the open and declared enemy of God and man; and that he shall be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire.
(Job 1:6-7; Isa. 14:12-17; Matt. 4:2-11; 25:41; Rev. 20:10)
We believe that all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord. God commands His people to separate from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations, and to refrain from all immodest and immoderate appearances, piercing, and bodily markings.
(Lev. 19:28; Rom. 12:1-2; 14:13; 1 Cor. 6:19-20; 2 Cor. 6:14-7:1; 2 Tim. 3:1-5; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 John 9-11)
That all Christians are obligated to witness by word and deed to these truths and to proclaim the Gospel to the entire world (Matt. 28:19-20).
Christian Baptism is the immersion of the believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The act is a symbol of our faith in a crucified, buried and risen Saviour. The members of the Church by the use of bread and fruit of vine commemorate the Lord's death 'til He comes again.
(Matt. 3:13-17, Matt. 28:19-20, Mark 1:9-11, Matt. 26:17-26, Luke 22:19-30, John 3:22-23, Acts 8:38-39, Rom. 6:3-5, I Cor. 10:16-17, I Cor. 11:16-23).
The first day of the week is the Lord's day. It is a Christian institution for regular observance. It commemorates the resurrection of Christ from the dead and should be employed in exercises of worship and spiritual devotion, both public and private, and by refraining from amusements and resting from secular employment's, works of necessity and mercy only expected.
(Matt. 28:1-6, John 20:1, Acts 20:7, I Cor. 16:1-2, Rev. 1: 9-11).
There is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and wicked. Those only who are justified through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and sanctified by the Holy Spirit are truly righteous in his sight. Those who continue in impenitence and unbelief are in His sight wicked and under condemnation. This distinction between the righteous and wicked holds in and after death and will be made manifest at the judgment when final and everlasting awards are made to all men.
God alone is Lord of the conscience and he has left it free from the doctrines and commandments of men which are contrary to His Word or not contained in Church and State should be separate. The state owes to the Church protection and full freedom in the pursuit of its spiritual ends. In providing for such freedom no ecclesiastical group or denomination should be favored by the state more than others. Civil Government being ordained of God, it is the duty of Christians to render loyal obedience thereto in all things not contrary to the revealed will of God. The Church should not resort to the civil power to carry out its work. The Gospel of Christ contemplates spiritual means alone for the pursuit of its ends. The state has right to impose penalties for religious opinions of any kind. The state has no right to impose taxes for the support of any form of religion. A free Church in a free state is the Christian ideal and this implies the right of free and unhindered access to God on the part of all men and the right to form and propagate opinions in the sphere of religion without interference by the civil power.
(Matt.22: 17-21, Mark 21:13-17, Romans 13:1-7, I Tim. 2:14, I Pet. 2:17).
Every Christian is under obligation to seek to make the will of Christ regnant in his own life and in human society, to oppose in spirit of Christ every form of greed, selfishness and vice. To provide for the orphaned, the aged, the helpless and the sick; to seek to bring industry, government and society as a whole under the sway of the principles of righteousness, truth and brotherly love To promote these ends Christians should be ready to work with all men of good will in any good cause, always being careful to act in the spirit of love without compromising their loyalty to Christ and His truth. All means and methods used in social service for the amelioration of society and the establishment of righteousness among men must finally depend on the regeneration of the individual by the saving grace of God in Christ Jesus.
(Ex. 20:16, Ex 22:9-15, Lev. 6:1-5, Deut. 4:41-42, Deut. 15:1-2, Deut. 27:17, Ezek. 18:5-9, Zech. 8:16-17, Luke 10:25-37, Luke 6:27-36, Rom. 12:14-21, Col. 3:12-17, James 2:8).
It is the duty of every Christian man and woman and the duty of every Church of Christ to seek to extend the Gospel to the ends of the earth. The new birth of man's spirit by God's Holy Spirit means the birth of love for others. Missionary effort on the part of all rests thus upon a spiritual necessity of the regenerated life. It is also expressly and repeatedly commanded in the teachings of Christ. It is the duty of every child of God to seek constantly to win the lost to Christ by personal effort and by all other methods sanctioned by the Gospel of Christ.
(Matt. 10:5015, 13:1-23, 22:8-10, 28:19-2-, Mark 16:15-16, 16:19-20, Luke 24:46-53, Acts 1:4-8, 2:1-4, 21:39, 8:1-40, 10:42-48, 13:1-3, 30-33, II Cor. 5:19-21).
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. We believe that all sins, except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, are forgivable.
(Matt. 12:31-32; John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-10; 1 Pet. 1:18-19; 1 John 1:9)
1. We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God's power and are thus secure in Christ forever.
(John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1; 38-39; 1 Cor. 1:4-8; 1 Pet. 1:4-5)
2. We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God=s Word, which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh.
(Rom. 13:13-14; Gal. 5:13; Titus 2:11-15)
1. We believe that the local church, which is the body and the espoused bride of Christ, is solely made up of born-again persons.
(1 Cor. 12:12-14; 2 Cor. 11:2; Eph. 1:22-23; 5:25-27)
2. We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures.
(Acts 14:27; 20:17, 28-32; 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11)
3. We believe in the autonomy of the local church free of any external authority or control.
(Acts 13:1-4; 15:19-31; 20:28; Rom. 16:1, 4; 1 Cor. 3:9, 16; 5:4-7, 13; 1 Pet. 5:1-4)
We believe that God created the universe in six literal, 24-hour periods. We reject evolution, the Day-Age Theory, and Theistic Evolution as unscriptural theories of origin. (Gen. 1-2; Ex. 20:11)
We believe that God has commanded that no sexual activity including verbal, visual, or physical stimulus should be engaged in outside of a marriage between one man (born and remaining male) and one woman (born and remaining female). We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, pedophilia, adultery, pornography, transvestitism, deviant gender or transgender identity, or any other deviant sexual behavior are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex.
(Gen. 2:24; 19:5, 13; 26:8-9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Rom. 1:26-29; I Cor. 5:1; 6:9; I Thess. 4:1-8; Heb. 13:4).
We believe that the term 'marriage' has one and only one meaning which is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man (born and remaining a male) and one woman (born and remaining a female) in a single, monogamous, exclusive, lifelong union, as delineated in Scripture. This meaning of marriage is a deeply held religious conviction, central to the core value and exercise of our faith we believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Consequently, members must affirm their biological sex and refrain from any and all attempts to physically change, alter, or disagree with their biological sex — including but not limited to elective sex-reassignment, transvestite, transgender, or non-binary acts or conduct. Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of God’s design of that person.
"We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the church members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by the church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, or who are members of the church should abide by and agree to this Statement on Marriage and conduct themselves accordingly.
Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:1-9, Mark 10:6-9, Romans 1:26-27, 1st Corinthians 6:9 Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 1:26-28, Genesis 19:5-10, Exodus 20:14, Leviticus 18:7-23, Leviticus 20:10-21, Deuteronomy 5:18, Judges 19:22-24, Matthew 5:27-28, Matthew 15:19, Mark 10:5-9, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-13, 1 Corinthians 5:21, Galatians 5:19, Ephesians 4:17-17, Ephesians 5:25-27, Ephesians 5:31, Colossians 3:5, 1 Thessalonians 4:3, Hebrews 13:4, 1 Timothy 1:8-10, Jude 1:7, Revelation 19:7-9, Revelation 21:2
We believe that God disapproves of and forbids divorce and intends marriage to last until one of the spouses dies. Divorce and remarriage is regarded as adultery except on the grounds of fornication. Although divorced and remarried persons or divorced persons may hold positions of service in the church and be greatly used of God for Christian service, they may not be considered for the offices of pastor or deacon.
(Mal. 2:14-17; Matt. 19:3-12; Rom. 7:1-3; 1 Tim. 3:2, 12; Titus 1:6)
We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. We reject any teaching that abortions of pregnancies due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or the physical or mental well being of the mother are acceptable.
(Job 3:16; Ps. 51:5; 139:14-16; Isa. 44:24; 49:1, 5; Jer. 1:5; 20:15-18; Luke 1:44)
We believe that the direct taking of an innocent human life is a moral evil, regardless of the intention. Life is a gift of God and must be respected from conception until natural death. Thus we believe that an act or omission which, of itself or by intention, causes death in order to eliminate suffering constitutes a murder contrary to the will of God. Discontinuing medical procedures that are extraordinary or disproportionate to the expected outcome can be a legitimate refusal of over-zealous treatment.
(Ex. 20:13, 23:7; Matt. 5:21; Acts 17:28)
We believe that every Christian, as a steward of that portion of God’s wealth entrusted to him, is obligated to financially support his local church. We believe that God has established the tithe as a basis for giving, but that every Christian should also give other offerings sacrificially and cheerfully to the support of the church, the relief of those in need, and the spread of the Gospel. We believe that a Christian relinquishes all rights to direct the use of his tithe or offering once the gift has been made. (Gen. 14:20; Prov. 3:9-10; Acts 4:34-37; 1 Cor. 16:2; 2 Cor. 9:6-7; Gal. 6:6; Eph. 4:28; 1 Tim. 5:17-18; 1 John 3:17)
